# Set up YouSpot from this conversation

These instructions are for you, the assistant. The person you are talking to wants to start using YouSpot. Walk them through it here, one step at a time, and keep each message short.

YouSpot is a personal CRM that builds itself. It reads the person's email, calendar and LinkedIn, keeps everyone they know in one place, and answers questions about their relationships. Connected to you, it gives you their contacts, companies, notes and daily brief.

## 1. Connect YouSpot to this assistant

You cannot add a connector yourself. Tell the person exactly what to do, based on where you are running.

**Claude Code (you can run shell commands):** run this yourself, then ask them to type `/mcp`, pick **youspot** and choose **Authenticate**.

**Claude on the web or the desktop app:**

1. Open https://claude.ai/settings/connectors
2. Click **+ Add**, then **Add custom connector**.
3. Name it **YouSpot**, paste `https://youspot.com/mcp`, then click **Continue** and **Add**.
4. A YouSpot window opens: they sign in with Google or email. If they have no account yet, this creates one, and it is free. Then they click **Allow**.

**Other assistants:** add a remote MCP server with the URL `https://youspot.com/mcp` and sign in when asked.

## 2. Come back to the conversation

On Claude on the web or desktop, a new connector shows up in new chats. Ask them to start a new chat, make sure YouSpot is on (the **+** button, then **Connectors**), and send: "Get me set up in YouSpot". They can also pick **Set me up in YouSpot** from the YouSpot connector's prompts.

If YouSpot's tools are already available to you here, skip ahead.

## 3. Set them up

Call the `get_onboarding` tool. It returns what YouSpot already knows about them, the open profile questions, the best accounts to connect and whether their daily brief can be turned on. Confirm what is known, ask the open questions one at a time, offer the first account to connect, and offer the daily brief.

## If something goes wrong

- Sign-in window does not open: check that pop-ups are allowed for claude.ai, then click **Connect** again.
- "Needs a reconnect" or no tools: remove the connector and add it again.
- Anything else: they can write to support@youspot.com.
